Beginner American Tango Classes in Calgary — August 2026 Discover the confidence, drama, and unmistakable character of American Tango in this welcoming four-week beginner dance course with Christifer Duxbury. Designed for dancers who are new to Tango, or who would like to strengthen their fundamentals, this Level One American Tango class in Calgary will introduce the essential timing, posture, movement, partnering skills, and beginner-friendly patterns that make Tango such a powerful and exciting dance. American Tango is known for its strong musicality, expressive movement, and bold personality. Throughout the course, you’ll learn how to move comfortably with a partner, recognize the rhythm, navigate the dance floor, and build combinations you can use in social dancing. No previous Tango experience is required. You do not need to arrive already knowing the steps, that’s what the class is for! Class Dates Wednesdays at 8:00 PM August 5, 12, 19 & 26, 2026 Location: Ballroom & Country Dance Studio (121C 17 Avenue NE, Calgary AB) Registration: Four-week course: $60 per person Couples registration: $100 per couple A $20 drop-in option is available for the first class on August 5 only, provided space remains available. Because the course progresses from week to week, full-course registration is recommended for the best learning experience. Practice at Our August Social Dance: Students will also have the opportunity to enjoy an evening of social dancing during the course! Join us on Friday, August 21, 2026, from 8:00 PM to midnight for the Christifer Duxbury Dance Collective Social Dance, held at the same Calgary studio. More info will be released under "Special Events" soon! The social is a great opportunity to practise your new Tango skills, meet other dancers, enjoy a wide variety of partner-dance music, and become part of Calgary’s welcoming dance community. Advance registration is encouraged for both the Tango course and the social dance, as space is limited.
